Seasonal Carousel Operator

This position is responsible for serving as the Seasonal Carousel Operator and providing a fun, safe environment for our visitors.  This position will support the Lead Operator as required and ensure all safety procedures are being followed.

The Seasonal Carousel Operator also serves as an information source for visitors and Silver Beach Center partners as needed. This position requires interpersonal communications skills and a broad knowledge of the City of St. Joseph and surrounding communities in southwest Michigan while modeling the highest level of quality customer service.

Principal Responsibilities


The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Assist Carousel operations
• Provide direction to Friends of the Carousel volunteers when required
• Representing the Silver Beach Carousel to guests by providing high quality and efficient service
• Responsible for maintaining a professional physical appearance
• Respond to guest inquiries
• Provide support and assistance to co-workers and to other departments as requested by supervisor; participates in team meetings and efforts to implement Carousel projects and achieve the Carousel’s goals.
• Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures pertaining to the Silver Beach Carousel
• Maintain confidentiality and follows the code of ethics

Minimum Qualifications:

• Possess high school diploma or equivalent
• Able to spend long periods of time standing
• Able to lift 40 pounds
• Articulate, outgoing, presenting a professional, pleasant, and courteous appearance at all times
• Public speaking experience strongly preferred
• Able to work a flexible schedule including weekdays, weeknights, weekends, and holidays
• Must enjoy loud music of the carousel band organ
• Must enjoy working with people of all ages
• Ability to multitask
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Comfortable making frequent required public address announcements
• First Aid and CPR certification preferred but not required
