Panda figure

APAA’s Xiong Mao

The Panda Bear
Donated by Edward and Lucille Eisele

The enchanting panda bear, with its big, soulful eyes, has graced our world for over three million years, earning the title of a living fossil. Now, this timeless wonder finds a new home at Silver Beach Carousel.

Donors Edward and Lucille named this figure APAA, a heartfelt tribute using the initials of their four grandchildren. The name "Xiong Mao," the Chinese word for panda, was taught to Ed and Lucy by their second-oldest grandchild who lived in Shanghai. This figure represents fond memories of Ed’s days with Whirlpool, working closely with the Chinese market. This panda is adorned with Chinese characters that read “Silver Beach” and is charmingly depicted snacking on a stick of bamboo. As you enjoy the Carousel’s magic, remember—no snacking while riding!
